Most of my m/f ships are Powerhouse of a Woman x Man Who Clearly Wants to be Stepped On
Continuing with our rewatch of the Arrowverse (minus 95% of Arrow) now that kiddo is old enough to not be freaked out by the violence or weirdness and actually remember it.
Tonight we started season 1 of Legends of Tomorrow, which has always been my favorite season of my favorite show from the Arrowverse. The cast all has such chemistry working with one another and I enjoy the more serious tone of the season slightly more.
But I'd be lying if I wasn't the most excited to see my beloved CaptainCanary on screen again. Smoldering and snarky while snapping but watching each other's backs no matter what. I absolutely adore seeing their dynamic when they are on screen together. Wentworth Miller and Caity Lotz made me fall in love with the idea of Leonard Snart and Sara Lance in just a few short episodes, almost entirely in the background of the plot with few direct words. I had liked both before, but seeing what they became when together on the Waverider made me a forever CaptainCanary fan. Even if we were robbed by Destiny.
Sara: Talk to Mick. That's what friends do.
Snart: Nope. I'm gonna wait until I'm on my deathbed, get in the last word, then die immediately.
Sara: That's your plan for dealing with this?
Snart: That's my plan for dealing with everything. I have 77 arguments I'm going to win that way.
Sara: That's dumb.
Snart: 78.
no but in the 100th episode the fact that len says "go easy on the ken doll" and sara actually listens to him. ajslgjgl i MISS THEM

(I decided to make this one a little longer, because why not?)
“You’re heart’s racing.” Snart’s rather smug and observant voice thrums against Sara’s ear. “Now I know being pressed up against me is exhilarating and all, but I’m trying to concentrate on picking this lock.”
Sara almost laughs.
“I know what you’re doing.” She forces herself to murmur, and the steadiness of her voice is a surprise to her; she hadn’t been sure she had words in her right now.
“You mean other than getting us out of this tin can?” Snart asks, completely conversational, as if his sarcasm is without ulterior motive.
This time, she does laugh.
“Tin Can” is easily the best descriptor for this stupid pod. They’ve hunted Vandal Savage to 2038; a few years before his rise to power, when whatever time he isn’t dedicating to brainwashing Per Degaton, he is spending on science experiments.
One of those experiments is his genetic modification of the Armageddon Virus, which Rip is insistent they are not to mess with. Whatever, Sara couldn’t care less about that right now. The bigger problem is one of his other experiments; these cryogenic freezers.
“Why is someone who is immortal working on cryogenic freezers anyway?” Sara asks aloud, her words punctuated by an angry beeping from the lock pad and an even angrier hum from Snart.
“Probably has some lacky he thinks he’s going to need down the line.” He grumbles, “Maybe this pod has that kid’s name on it.”
Sara hums, and tips her head a bit to the side. She is half trying to give Snart a better view of the electronics he is working with around her, and half trying to lose herself in the feeling of is arms brushing her sides as he does.
They’d gotten knocked in here during the fight. He was thrown in first, and her shoved second. There is hardly an inch between them and not a shred of light aside from the faint blue glow of the backside of the interior control panel. Still, that’s hardly anything, and it’s doing absolutely nothing to help Sara and the waking nightmare this situation is putting her in.
This is just another mission; she keeps trying to remind herself. She is stuck in a non-operational stasis chamber. This isn’t a grave. She isn’t dead. She is alive. She is with Snart. This is inconvenient and annoying but she is ok. She will walk out of here alive, and with her soul. No pit, no bloodshed, no coffin.
She’s found it’s better with her eyes closed. It’s easier that way to block out the wall on her right, on her left, under her feet, over her head, and against her back.
Coffin. Coffin. Grave.
While Snart works she focuses on him and only him. The tendons of his shoulder moving under her forehead has he tries to pick the lock. She makes her mind linger on the scent of his jacket; wintergreen soap and black polyester. He is here, and he is working on getting them out of here.
Here.
Not there.
“Ok.” Snart huffs, “I will give Raymond some credit. At least his monkey suit has a flashlight.”
She chuckles weakly, and she feels Snart’s cheek brush her head as he leans in closer, futilely trying to see past her. So she tries to help, by moving even more and she swallows thickly as her whole side presses into the steel wall.
“We’re lucky this thing isn’t dusty.” He comments, “Something tells me sneezing in here would be hell.”
Sara hums in agreement.
“You mean vomit.” She says, calling him out on his sugarcoating; on what he’s doing.
He knows how close she is to panicking. The whole team knows she’s died before, but she would venture to guess that Snart is the only one insightful enough to realize that might mean she has some lingering issues with boxes and being trapped inside them.
So, he’s talking to her. He’s trying to keep her talking, and calm, and from teetering over the edge and making this whole situation worse.
And, of course, he’s too proud to admit that he would ever care enough to do that.
“That would suck too.” He agrees with her.
She breathes out through her nose, which turns out to be a mistake, because then she has to breathe in, and it’s deep and loud. But now she’s started, she’s heard her own breath come in and out too fast and too heavy, and she can’t stop. She starts shuddering for breath, at a pace dangerously close to hyperventilating.
“Easy Canary.” Snart hums into her ear, “We have limited oxygen in here.”
She shudders again, but he’s right, and somehow that makes it easier to swallow down the air and make the next breath come out shorter and steadier.
“Thank you.” He says, his hands still fumbling behind her with the exposed wiring of the keypad, and then there is a beeping and the steel retracts behind her.
The two of them stumble out of the pod, each breathing in the stale – not to mention slightly singed - air of the workshop.
“Then again,” Snart drawls, “Out here isn’t much better.”
Sara chuckles, and she glances behind her at the now open pod. She allows her eyes all of thirty seconds to rake over the would-be stasis chamber. Sturdy, steel walls, but the door now open and showing her nothing but shadows of confinement.
She shutters, but less now that she is seeing it from this angle. There is nothing objectively frightening about it. It’s just an open box, which she walked out of, alive, and this time with her soul every bit as intact as when she fell in.
There is a distant sound of blaster fire; a demand for both her and Snart’s attention.
“At least they didn’t ditch us.” Snart growls, and Sara huffs in reply.
She brushes past him, intent on leading the way out to the fight, but first, she stops in the doorway. “Thanks.”
Maybe it’s because she took the time to stop, to look him in the eye, or maybe she is still a little pale in the face and her words are still trembling as much as the rest of her. In any case, Snart nods to her.
“Don’t mention it.”
Her lips curl into a smile.
