Everybody needs to adopt a shelter cat
I picked this boy up this morning. He had been at a local shelter since he lost his home in hurricane Harvey last year. He was pretty standoffish and not super affectionate the first time I met him, but damn it I was gonna adopt my one eyed hurricane fighting kitty so help me god.
Anyway, I picked him up today and he was not happy about being stuck in a carrier and driven 20 minutes back to my apartment today, and when he got to my apartment he made a beeline for the lazy Susan and it took about ten minutes of coaxing and cat treats from me and my boyfriend to get him to come out again. Now, he's curled up on a shelf in my furnace room and starts making the biggest purrs whenever I go in and check on him. He's super sweet and affectionate and just the most wonderful lil cat boy I could ask for and I never would have known that if I hadn't taken a chance on him at the shelter.
