"Nice wingth you have, thinigami-than!"
Matsumoto had never tolerated sudden absences of those around her well. And Hitsugaya learned that early on, back when he accepted his first mission as an official captain of Tenth division. Instructions were left on his desk, as well as their division schedule. But because of the stress and commotion, the young captain had failed to do one thing — meet with his lieutenant. It wasn’t as if she didn’t know he’d been called to this task; it wasn’t as if she didn’t know when he was leaving. She knew everything. She always knew everything. She just expected him to tell her that personally. She never actually gave him any trouble for it when he came back. Not really. But there were hints. Things that let him know she wasn’t actually happy about it, either. He did not understand it back then, even though he had recognized the clues.
But he understands now.
And that’s one of the main reasons why he had finished her papers this morning, folding them neatly and placing them on her desk. It’s why he lets her sleep on their office couch as well. It’s why he’ll try to be tolerant of her antics for at least a few day.
Because he understood. And he’d done it again, when he left on a mission without approaching her first. He had done it again, yes. He’ll probably repeat that mistake in near future too. But Matsumoto understood too, Hitsugaya knew.
No matter what, he’ll always come back.

'How do I tell him I'm scared?
I'm not stupid, there's something wrong with me. Why do I keep having black outs and huge memory gaps? Why do I always, always feel sick and exhausted? My right eye bleeds on its own for gods sake! That's not normal!
I'm supposed to be able to go to him with any problems, but shit, how do I go to him about this? I don't even have any solid proof anymore, I haven't had any complication in a while. But it doesn't feel like I'm getting better.
It feels more like a wait period before the next strike.
If I tell him that, then he'll just think I'm being paranoid...'
Will ignore the fact that she had, once again, disobeyed his instructions and entered his office through the window. Will also ignore her as well. Meaning, while his greeting comes, his eyes remain glued to his papers. “Tea is on the second shelf. Help yourself.” A pause and then, “If you can, of course.” He wasn’t too sure if she could manage anything, let alone prepare tea, in that form, after all.
Oh, it wasn't like anyone saw her. A little magic and a little trickery and she was basically invisible. Its his own fault for leaving the window's unlocked all the time. Made it far to easy for demons to slip on in whenever they pleased.
"Missed you too." She wasn't even ruffled by his behavior. Far too used to it, and really, she knew he was happy to see her. Somewhere down there under all that frost.
"Why thank you, I'd love some." Someday he'd learn to stop underestimating her. Fox, yes. Stupid, far from it. "Its been a while since I stopped by. How have you been?"
Leaves this here.
Stares at it with a look that could kill.
Continues to stare.
...
Gets up and leaves.
