Bones raised a suspicious eyebrow, but felt a small smile shatter the facade. “Go on, what is it?”

[someone stop me from using a dumb line. Please. It's just. Someone tell me "The doctor isn't in right now." Is a terrible response to the one line to snap my muse out of killing yours meme. Hurry.]

"Before you hear it from Spock, just let me tell you, it really wasn't my fault."

He's rolling his eyes before the middle of the first sentence. Really, any time Jim starts with 'before' is a warning on its own. "No, of course not. It never is even though you always seem to be smack dab in the center of any convoluted chaos that starts a few minutes after you enter the room."

"You need a break, Bones."

“Huh.”

A moment passes before he lifts his eyes from his PADD. He smiles, letting the screen fall back toward his desk as his hands slacken their grip. He could agree, but he chooses to hold his tongue, curious as to how Jim will convince him of his need.

"Well, look what the cat dragged in."

[He randomly appears in Bones' room to drift by his doctor seated at his desk, pressing a soft kiss to his head and whispering a light 'I love you' before passing to fall into bed.~]

[He doesn't really register Jim's in the room, and as a result when hurriedly turns his head up, he barely manages to brush his lips over Jim's jaw in return. 'G'night." he mumbles, watching after the retiring figure, and manages to tear his gaze away and refocus on his page. He lasts maybe thirty seconds before saving his progress and tossing the PADD aside. The bed's soft, Jim's warm, and there will be other nights to work late. Right now he has somewhere he needs to be.]
