Morning Routine

Preview: “Fine. I'll allow it this once, but-” He held up a finger. “Under one condition.”

Rikka pulled her face out from the blankets a little bit more.

“Name your conditions, Dark Flame Master.”

Just like every night previously, Yuuta could have sworn he'd gone to bed alone last night.

On occasion, he would feel the warm lump of the cat- er... Chimera at his feet, which he didn't particularly mind (as long as he didn't find Rikka's sister under his bed, he really didn't care what else made its way into his room).

But still, he didn't expect to find Rikka herself.

It was a lazy Saturday morning, and he was only partially conscious, the sunlight tugging at his eyelids and coaxing him awake, gently. A content yawn, and he rolled over onto his other side and-

“Eu!”

“Ow!”

His forehead bumped painfully into someone else's, and his eyes flew open to reveal what he already knew.

“Rikka!”

“Uuuu...” The girl rubbed her forehead pitifully, whimpering and sniffling.

“Yuutaaaa... I was having a good sleep until you bonked me awake!”

“Good sleep or not, do it in your own bed not someone else's!”

“But you're my boyfriend now!”

The sudden reminder had him blushing pink instantly, and he clamped his jaws shut. He sat up, looking down at her as she peeked her un-patched eye up from beneath the covers – his covers. Yuuta sighed and softened his voice a bit.

“We may be boyfriend and girlfriend now, but that doesn't mean you're allowed to break and enter into my house at night. At least... I think so?”

When he stopped to ponder it for a second, he found himself unsure of the answer. He'd heard of couples doing such things before, so... was it really all that uncommon? Rikka snuck herself into his house enough times for him to consider her an official part of the family anyway, so was there really much of a difference?

Rikka shifted beneath the covers, waiting for his response. Yuuta heaved a sigh.

“Fine. I'll allow it this once, but-” He held up a finger. “Under one condition.”

Rikka pulled her face out from the blankets a little bit more.

“Name your conditions, Dark Flame Master.”

Yuuta smirked and leaned over her.

“Tickle attack!” he cried.

“Aaaaahhhahaaha!!” Rikka squeaked and squealed as he dove on her, fingers wiggling all up and down her sides as she thrashed and kicked. “Y-Y-Yuutaaaa- aaahhahaha!” Rikka did her best to defend herself and to fight back, but Yuuta overpowered her.

All except for one time when she accidentally kicked him in the gut.

“Ow...”

“I couldn't control myseeeelf!”

“I guess I deserved it, huh?” he chuckled, finally letting her up.

Her hair was frazzled now, sticking out to all sides, and Yuuta reached out to fix it for her. Rikka closed her eyes, sitting like a puppy as he patted her hair down for her.

Then, she crawled closer and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek.

“Sorry I kicked you.”

“It wasn't so bad! Don't worry.” He returned the kiss with one to her forehead.

Then, their eyes inevitably met, and it wasn't long before their lips came together gently, quick and shy, as they were still getting used to this sort of thing.

When they parted, Yuuta grinned and ruffled her hair.

“H-Hey!" she protested. "You just fixed it!”

“Come on down for breakfast,” he offered. “I bet my whole family knows you're here now, anyway.”

Rikka was still pouting as she watched him get up and head for the door.

But when he glanced back at her over his shoulder and held out his hand, she felt her cheeks turn pink.

Rikka scrambled out of the bed, trying to fix her hair as she did so before stumbling to a stop at his side.

She took his hand and followed him out the door and to the kitchen, walking at his side just where she knew she belonged.
