Every single day, I leave my apartment and I giggle the door to make sure it's looked. As I get into the parking lot, I have to go back and check it again. I understand completely

literally me!!! i sometimes will literally only get 5 feet before i turn around double check the door even though i just locked it 10 seconds ago. i started entering “locked up” and then checking it off on my reminders section of my phone every time i leave the house, and that has helped a lot. but if i double back for something the system kinda falls apart bc i get freaked out that i didn’t do it right the second time because what if i’m remembering it wrong? 

like anxiety as a daily disorder is so pervasive. it’s reality distorting even when you’re conscious of it. it doesn’t matter if you know what’s true, because you’re still playing what if’s. like you know you have done something but you can’t shake the fear of if you didn’t and then spiraling with what the outcomes would be. i hate it so much omfg
