Peggy spent most of her days in the same position, in the same chair, in the same old retirement home that SHIELD had registered her into, she always wore the same fluffy housecoat that kept her warm throughout the day. Watching the days past, visitors walking in and out the building, while the retired agent sat in the corner of the room watching television.
Her head turned to look at the photograph that sat on the table next to her, the photograph of the Captain before he was affected by the serum, just the kid from Brooklyn, who wanted to be in the army so much.
Peggy never allowed anyone to move the image or even touch it, she couldn't lose it. It was all she had left of him, just the little old picture in the same old frame since 1945. She couldn't lose it, it meant the world to her, she slowly leaned over and ran her fingers down the image, a small tear rolling down her cheek.
Every-time she looked at the photo... and started to think of the time she cherishes most in her life, the time she spent with the Captain, the man she did want to spend the rest of her life with - but that wasn't an option anymore.
