The colour managed workflow
https://www.adobe.com/digitalimag/pdfs/color_managed_raw_workflow.pdf
Capture: the capture stage requires a photographer to take an exposure. you can choose the resolution and file type, you can choose between RAW or JPEG.
Import: importing requires a photographer to take the exposure and upload it onto a computer making it a file such as a JPEG, CAMERA RAW to TIFF. importing allows the image to be moved to different sources for editing. you can choose the file name
Editing: editing is the phase where you choose the best images which will be taken forward and you may either keep or delete images that are not used. You can in software like bridge and Lightroom star rate you images so you may decide your best images.
Optimise: allows a photographer to create and upgrade the desired image, wither that be through cropping, changing tones or exposure, editing the presence etc. This allows a photographer to create a perfect image. image optimisation is about reducing the file size down enough but keeping the quality so it doesn't take up enormous amounts of space and can be stored elsewhere. You can make batch adjustments
Export: image exporting is about reducing the file size down enough but keeping the quality so it doesn't take up enormous amounts of space and can be stored elsewhere. You can make also batch adjustments. Exporting is the penultimate stage in this process, it is when you must send your edited and optimised image to store, this can be in a hard drive, on a computer or external drive.
Output: output is when you decide where your going to upload your image, it could be used for display in a project, could be printed, could be for personal advertisement on a website or could be uploaded to a social media like Facebook or instagram.
Capture to Output
Review of my workflow on the Alphabet City Project.
Capture
I took the images on my canon 550d using an 18-55mm lens and changing aperture and focus length as required for the composition of each different shot.
Import
I then plugged my camera directly into my laptop where I was then able to select the photos from my camera that I wanted to import then straight into my general photos gallery.
Edit
To refine which photos I wanted to use for my final submission I carefully went through them and picked the ones I liked most to put together in a separate album making them more easily accessible.
Optimise
To optimise the final images I used VSCO as I didn't yet have an adobe Lightroom or Bridge account. I found this a bit messy and counterproductive as I found myself losing images or not knowing which ones I had optimised yet due to them all being in different places with some in Photos app and others on VSCO
Export
I didn't find myself to have a good exporting process with lots of the photos being in different places I was jumping back and forth to ensure they were all the same file type. I ended up collaging all of the images together using pic collage which I'm not sure was ideal when it comes to image quality and presentation.
Output
For final use I uploaded the pic collage I had created to my tumblr blog.
Conclusion
I found this for the most part to be a relatively good workflow. I now have Lightroom and Bridge which I am finding for more productive and organisational as during the Alphabet City Project I was jumping back and forth with a lot of different softwares and getting lost. I am looking forward to completing another project with a hopefully improved workflow having been able to complete this review and reflect on my past work.
Tuesday 19th of November - Location class
Today in class: I went into the download room and wrote more on my capture and output report on the computer.
Some of the stuff I wrote about was the digital noise, camera sensors and bit depth etc.
This video explains how pixels are assigned RGB values using a bayer filter system. It is one of the many bonus lessons on my new DVD, Photoshop Crash Course...
This video should help you with your Capture and Output report -

Today in class: I went into the download room and wrote more information of my word document for my capture and output report.
Tuesday 5th of November - Location class
Today in class: I started to write up information about the new Capture To Output project. I wrote it in my class notebook, so i’ll need to write it on a word document at some point for submission.
Tuesday 29th of October - Location class
Today in class: Just spoke about where we are in folio 1, and then started to talked about a new project called Capture and Output.
The images above are the capture and output brief.
Me and my friends had to take more images for the Qualities of light, so we did that and went to the library after it to write up the information on the task sheet of the project.
