Colour Picture Analysis

I like how in this image there is the contrast between the green and red tomatoes and the dying grassy background. 

I used the aperture setting while taking this picture, my aperture being at F5.6, and my shutter speed at 1/125 seconds.

I achieved the effect I was hoping for, which was getting the contrast between the foreground and the background of the image. I feel like it successfully describes the element of colour, due to the contrast between the lack of colour and the colourful tomatoes.

If I were to retake the photo I would probably do the same thing as I have done with this image, maybe moving the tomatoes into the top right hand corner.

I love this image because it captures the bright blue colouring of the lobelia, while not being to overexposed, however I don't feel as if it is one of my stronger images as it seems to plain to me.

The settings I used for this image were a shutter speed of 1/50 seconds, and an aperture of F5.6.

I feel that I did achieve the effect of colour in this image, as it has a very vibrant subject that fills almost the entire picture.

If I were to change anything in this image I would change the focus of the camera, making it so that the flowers in the foreground are in focus too. I would also try and add in some other aspect to make the image stand out more.

I like this image because of the subject matter being captured effectively with the green leaves and the yellow buds, also partially making a pattern with the flower buds.

The setting I used while taking the picture was aperture, having t set to F5.6, and having the shutter speed at 1/160 seconds so I could capture a crisp and clear image.

I think I achieved the effect I was hoping for, as I wanted an image that was all in focus, so it would just focus on the colour of the subject matter, I think it does show the colour element.

If I were to retake the image I would change the colour of the subject matter due to the green leaves and the yellow flowers being similar tones, making the image stand out less than it could've with colours that contrasted more.

Texture Picture Analysis

I like that in this image the focal point is the centre of the new sprouting leaves, which is accentuated by the veins on the leaves leading to the centre.

For this picture I was on the aperture setting, my camera using the settings F8 and 1/125 seconds shutter speed.

The image is exactly what I wanted it to be, if not better than I expected. The image, I feel, describes my element well as it is using the texture to enhance the focal point of the image.

If I could change anything next time, I would probably try to get a better focus on the leaves, and maybe move them so the focal point is to the right more - moving it so it is in one of the cross sections of the composition grid.

I really like this image because of the soft lines that were created. The element of texture comes through with this because of the lines, the varying shades of the dead flax, and the different depths between the flax.

I was on the shutter speed setting while taking this picture, my shutter speed being 1/10 and my aperture being F5.6. While I was taking this picture, I was moving the camera downwards, making the lines become soft so they would flow down.

I really did achieve the effect I was hoping for. I got the lines flowing down while still being able to tell the difference between the different flax leaves. I feel like it does show texture, just not necessarily detailed texture.

I'm not entirely sure what I would do for this next time, as I feel that the final photograph achieves what I wanted it to.

I like how in this image you can see all of the fine details on the fern, having each little hair stand out. This shows texture simply because of how it does capture the fine details on the fern.

I don't think this image is perfect, but I feel like I did achieve what I was wanting to. I wanted a photograph that captured texture on the subject matter, while still being a distance away from it.

If I could change anything in this image I would probably make it less exposed, so that the tip of the fern wasn't so bright as well as the light reflecting on the rest of it being toned down.

Texture Proof Sheet Analysis

I do believe that I explored and captured the element of texture well. I loved taking pictures for this so much, and found it really easy to get a wide range of pictures with varying composition styles and subject matter.

The technical side of the images involved sticking with either a f5.6 or a f8 aperture, and a medium shutter speed. This meant that I could capture a lot of close up detail in my images and capture the patterns created by it. An example of this is the image that is mainly covered in red flowers, in which the flowers are in focus, letting the veins on the flowers create detail and patterns in the image.

I think that I did well in the sense that I got a range of different textures in my images. I varied in the composition in my photographs, making each one look different to the other, apart from one or two images with the same subject matter.

Something I would like to improve on next time is getting close ups on detailing, focusing on the texture and not the background and subject itself. I want the texture to be the main attraction in the image.

Movement Proof Sheet Analysis

When I decided to use movement as an element I thought it would be easy to do, but now that I have done it I never want to do it again. I tried to capture movement as much as I could, but I’m not entirely sure if I did manage to in the end.

For my settings I used in my movement pictures, there was no dominant setting that was used. I varied so much in how I took the pictures due to not wanting to have repeating images and types of movement. I did tend to use a lower shutter speed while talking the pictures though, meaning that I could capture the subjects moving, while still being able to tell while looking at the final images.

I do think that I was successful at getting a wide range of subject matter in these photographs. I needed to, so that I could get different types of movement. I also think that I was successful at getting varying types of movement, which is linked to different subject matter I suppose.

One thing I would really like to improve on next time is my theme of nature. The pictures I took for movement were dissimilar to those in texture and colour. I used a lot of beach pictures, which technically are nature, but my theme seems to lean towards the plant side of it meaning that the beach pictures stand out against the others.

Colour Proof Sheet Analysis

I think that I explored the element of colour fairly well. I used the same subject matter for a lot of the photos, which I would’ve liked to have changed, but I varied the shot sizing and structure, which makes them differ from each other.

In the majority of the photographs I stuck to a low aperture of 5.6, occasionally raising to an 8 or a 13. This let light in, making the colours in the images brighter, in turn creating the element of colour. I also constantly used a fast shutter speed so that the images I got were clear and crisp.

Personally, I think I was successful at getting images with bright colours, getting a range of different colours. I certainly tried to get a wide range, spending a lot of time trying to find new things to photograph.

There are a couple of things that I would like to improve on next time, the first being my subject matter. I repeatedly used the same flowers for my pictures, which I did try to help by getting different angled and arranged shots, but I feel that I could’ve searched for a wider range of things to photograph. Another thing I would like to change next time is how I arrange the subject matter inside the images. In my photographs I tend to have the repetition of the arrangement of my subjects in my images, for example, having a flower at the centre of the image. I want to make sure that next time I vary in the ways I arrange my images.
