I was reviewing some of the photography I had been doing to compile GIF’S with and while learning the ins and outs of GIF making and all the complications with file size and compression, the available online tools and the different fades between frames; I much prefer the still images.

I’m glad I revisited these. I have become a fan of the black and white image and the opportunistic nature of taking pictures where there is no particular focus, the camera is pointed up, I take a few strides, capture an image, take a few more strides, capture an image. The images are all a surprise until reviewed later.

Shawna and Alfree are cousins of mine, Adam and I were the rebels of the Harmon family.  Both grown now, married with kids, I was honored they chose Capturing Time Photography to provide family photos.  We chose English Landing Park in Parkville, MO. - a quiet little cobblestone town down the river from KCMO skyline. It’s beautiful. The weather was beautiful (71 in late October?), no plaid and darling children. 

The big brother is charming and soft, a little shy but ready to entertain the world. He was a superhero of a big brother and helped to comfort his little sister as she cried through most of the shoot. That was our ‘lemon’ if there was one - the little one did not want to be there at all.  Post nap, she simply did not want to leave dad’s arms and if she strayed away from his finger grasp (the photo above), she would cry dragon tears down her cheeks. A few brief moments of brother entertainment and tosses in the air brought a crack of a smile and the last grin came as I was packing my camera away; pull it out quick and SNAP. 

The photos are darling - kissed with sunshine and natural. A wonderful couple, patient parents and loved children with personality and sass. What more can you want from a family session?
