We decided to go with large scale cardboard letters and like the wall art, we each took different sections and covered them with our art.

I partially loved painting on such irregular shapes and at such large scale. I also loved exploring different art styles all over the piece. These are pictures of the finished piece and a painting I done of a shark which was really fun to do on the piece. Also a picture of me beside a letter to show scale!!

Not college related but this paint progress cool or whatever.

Sketches for painting. Was tryna convey what dysphoria is like for me personally cuz its dookie 👎👎👎. I do a lot of paintings and art stuff related to being trans outside of college cuz its such a huge part of my life and i wanted to do another one recently.

Painting so far mayhaps will post when its fully finished or if i fully finish im a terror for starting personal paintings and never finishing them bleh

Title: jesus christ that hurts!

This is a painting based off a picture I took while I was ticcing. I was trying to capture the pain I feel during harsh tic attacks but my dog decided to photo bomb me 😅. I usually stay away from painting people because I'm not very good at it, but I believe this isn't too bad for something outside my comfort zone.

I watched this movie last weekend. I actually ended up seeing it twice. I was not familiar with the game, but it was adapting, though, now I definitely plan on playing it.

This movie, both in its aesthetics and its plot, have definatly inspired some of the more horror aspects of my project.

It’s technically humans fused into a blood eel, but I think that the principle still stands.

It is incredibly creepy and unsettling how you can find human elements amongst the naudical. I absolutely love it, and I think it captures the uncanny feeling perfectly.

duck :) she’s not perfect but I had fun making this. Trying to branch out a little from exclusively seagulls whilst talking about birds.

I don’t exactly think this suits my theme as much, as I’m trying to focus more on the grand movements of birds. Like them taking off and flapping their wings. The duck is much more still and peaceful. But I still enjoyed making it and mixing all the colours. I think it helped me narrow down the aspects of my theme I’m interested in.

This painting made me think of the Duck Stamp contest. A contest exclusive to America which revolves around appreciating wildlife. (Ducks)

This is the 2025 winning piece, a painting by Adam Grimm. The sorts of work they’re looking for in this competition is very very detailed and accurate to life. My painting on the other hand took me no more than an hour, but I think the composition are quite similar.

Artist Research!

Tim Burton and Henry Selick

I decided to research two different stop motion artists and directors, Tim Burton (Director of the corpse bride) and Henry Selick (Director of Coraline)

Henry Selick and Tim Burton both started out as animators and began to move towards directing. Interestingly enough, the artists have collaborated in the past, for example Selick directed the Nightmare Before Christmas and Burton produced it.

Coraline was something that terrified me as a child, and I think I took a lot of inspiration from the other mothers hand when I created the little wire hand in my animation.

I watched the Corpse Bride in recent years, and I really enjoyed the detail and large eyes, skeletal figures and gothic mood present in the movie.

I think I was inspired by both these movies subconsciously at first, but I quickly noticed the parallels with the two artists work. I really enjoy their gothic and detailed styles and I think it's fascinating just how smooth and interesting stop motion animation can be.
