While their parents remained in Rhode Island, the kids were off vacationing in London. It’s somewhere the whole family had been planning on visiting but something had come up with the company and their mother had decided to stay with their father with the promise to meet them later. So now they were here, day three, in the sprawling city with Melinoe in charge on grounds of seniority and while she was waiting for her drink order in a little coffee shop, her siblings were off exploring an art shop nearby.
Macaria had seen it and her love of the arts made a longing look appear on her face. Zagreus promised to look after her while Melinoe got her coffee. She trusted him entirely to make sure their little sister was safe. Zagreus definitely played the protective big brother role well. She just hoped they were having a better time than she was waiting for a stupid coffee.
Some guy was obnoxiously hitting on her. Another tourist, she could tell. And while Melinoe continued to rebuke his advances he continued to come back and finally this time, as she felt a presence behind her again, she’d had enough.
“Look, buddy, if you don’t leave me alone I will do things to you that will-” She stopped when she took in the other woman behind her rather than the man whom she noticed was still seated at his table. “I’m so sorry, I thought you were somebody else. I swear I don’t yell at people undeserving of it. Is there anything I can do to make up for screaming in your face?”
