Two Guys Pretend To Make Out Behind A CNN Reporter.
While he tries to report on the Lehman Brothers collapse. "Two guys just, obviously trying to make light of a bad situation, pretending to 'console' each other..." LOL!
You Guys Are The Best. Thanks A Million!
That's for your votes on the Best Blog Thingy. Heheh.
Last night at around 11pm, here I was on vacation, and then I found out my hotel here had free wifi. So I thought i'd bring out my laptop to check out my mail.
Lo and behold, from out of the blue my contact NoPigeonHole from merry ole England had apparently decided to nominate me to a poll of the Best Multiply Blogs Of The Year!
http://nopigeonhole.multiply.com/journal/item/81
Oh my. So yeah, I figured the five votes I got there by that time could use a little help, and so I asked for it from you all in a link last night. Your response really, really surprised me. Within the hour I there were about 30 or so more. by morning it was 97... And so on. Wow! Thanks so much everyone! Needless to say, it really gladdens my heart. :)
So far i'm running second to Swerver (he's my contact here too, nice guy, and great blogger, IMHO), and the voting ends sometime tomorrow, I think. If I don't make number one, then he should. Heheh. Go Pinoys! :)
Anyways, win or lose, it's made me so glad to have gotten so much support from you, my contacts on Multiply. Can't name each and everyone of you who voted though. See, some did and said so, but even more voted anonymously. You guys know who you are, and thanks too!
Right now i'm indulging my passion for taking pretty pictures, but i'll be back blogging as soon as vacation mode is switched off!
Cheers to you all, and many thanks!!
My Cousin Abal.
Actually taken while we were waiting for our order of pancit and lumpia at Roberto's in Dumaguete City. [If ever you're there I would recommend the pancit at Rosante's, it's yummy!] I originally never planned to post-process these photos, but tonight I thought I would try my hand at post-processing portraits for a change. C&C would be very much appreciated; for any violent reactions, please just PM me. Heheh.
Congratulations President-Elect Obama.
Minutes ago, Virginia and its 13 Electoral Votes were called for Senator Barack Obama, and shortly after California, Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii closed their polls, and their Electoral Votes are most certainly going to Senator Obama. Its all over.
Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States.
The American people have once more surprised the entire world, this time by electing its first African-American as President. Why is it surprising? Because this is the same country that reelected George W. Bush four years ago. Only an idiot would disagree that this is a significant moment for America, and maybe even the entire world. I understand this is a proud moment for all African-Americans, but President-elect Obama is now going to be the President of all of the United States - black, white, brown, what have you.Congratulations, and Godspeed!photo from http://campaignwindow.com
Quantum of Solace.
Sony Pictures. Starring Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Giancarlo Gianni, Mathieu Amalric, Olga Kurylenko, Jeffrey Wright, and Gemma Arterton. Directed by Marc Forster. When "Casino Royale" came out two years ago, most everyone oohed and aahed over the Daniel Craig's James Bond - tougher, grittier, and I daresay more human. With "Quantum of Solace" all the dirt and grit are still there, but its no longer as much of a surprise as the first time around. At 105 minutes long, this revenge movie is shorter than "Casino Royale," and so the action scenes come thick and fast. You may have to remember his name this time though, as Bond never introduces himself in his trademark manner until the end. "Quantum of Solace" starts right after "Casino Royale" ended, and before you're even settled in your seat Bond is in a spectacular car chase down mountain roads and into Alpine tunnels in Italy against baddies in an Alfa-Romeo. And all that while he has the assassin Mr. White (Jesper Christiensen) in the boot [how British of me] of his Aston-Martin. An interrogation of the assassin later reveals the existence of Quantum, a super-secret organization that appears to be responsible for the death of Vesper Lynd (Eva Green). Five minutes into the movie and we find Bond on Haiti seeking vengeance, and there he encounters the unscrupulous businessman Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), who is busy cornering South America's resources for his personal gain. Before long Bond gets involved with Greene's girlfriend, the beautiful Camille (Olga Kurylenko), when he saves her from an attempt to kill her. Finding out she has her own vendetta as well, Bond goes rogue and they both pursue their enemies in Austria and deep into the Bolivian desert. Like I mentioned the movie is shorter, and I for one like that. While "Casino Royale" developed leisurely, this one's really fast. Fast enough to give you vertigo. On the not-so-good side, the story wasn't too well explained, and the shadowy Quantum's aims are about as clear as mud. Even how they could have been responsible for Vesper Lynd's death isn't really elaborated on, but then I'll take 007's word for that one. That aside, Craig is as usual excellent as Bond, and his gritty portrayal now has a human side as well - as shown when he tenderly holds a dying colleague in his arms. Judi Dench as M is brilliant as always, and Olga Kurylenko makes for a smashing Bond girl. Action scenes are aplenty, and spectacularly choreographed. They almost have a Jason Bourne-like quality to them, especially the chase on foot across the rooftops of Siena followed by the scramble with ropes, girders, and smashing glass that would do any Bourne fan proud. While "Quantum of Solace" may not be the best of all Bond films, it is nonetheless a good thriller, never dragging, and with lots of vigor. Four stars say its definitely worth a see!
