How to Check if the Car Air-Con is working Properly or Not?
An air-conditioner has rapidly become an extremely important part of our lives. Not only in our homes but also in our vehicles. Driving on a hot summer day with your AC not working is like hell on earth, very uncomfortable and dangerous for the driver. Extreme heat and temperatures can cause the driver to have a heat stroke and/or fall unconscious.
Air con helps prevent anyone from going through this because it helps keep the vehicle cabin cool. Being honest, on a hot sunny day all you want is to enjoy your ride home from work or maybe you're heading out with your family on a road trip and it’s burning outside, the air con is always there to provide relief by keeping the cabin cool. It prevents the cabin from being moist and smelly. Air con needs maintenance as well, there is a limit for its fan and filter and it depends on each automaker how durable they have made their Walsall MOT Centre. But sometimes air-con can too breakdown on you unexpectedly.
Here are some ways you can check If your air-con isn’t working properly:
Check Air Pressure
First off, turn it on to maximum speed and check the pressure of air in each vent. If the pressure isn’t as it used to be (is slower than before) then it may have something to do with the fan or the filter. The filters, of course, filters the dirt that might be entering your cabin so after a while it needs to be changed, depending on where you live it might be more dusty than usual so it may have clogged up before its expectancy. The fan may have been worn out due to the work it does every time you switch air con on, which again depends on where you live and how the area’s temperature is.
Check the Leakage
Next up check if there is any smell in your air vents that might lead to a leak or again a dirty air filter. Don’t be stingy on changing these components regularly if you use your air-con more than usual and if you don’t change them, don’t complain why it smells like dead rats in your car distance.
Check the Fuse Box
Sometimes you may experience that your air con isn’t working as intended rather blowing warm air, which no one wants. This might have something to do with the electricals of your car. Check the fuse box and check if each fuse is getting its intended voltage, if not then a fuse might be needed to change.
Check the Blower Motor
Check your blower motor, turn on the warm air. If the flow is weak then your blower motor may be done for. If your motor blows on a higher setting it might have something to do with the resistor. Also, mice can build their homes in these areas of the car and may have been caught in the motor hence the bad smell or high pressure only.
