I'm thinking about how "the sweetest dreams taste bitter" and, if related to caramel, that's a sign that the sugar was overcooked/burned.
What if Caramel actually is Sugar 2.0, like we originally thought? What if Vessel used metaphors of sex and addiction in Sugar to describe the desire for success and fame?
There's also a mention of "missing my wings in a realm of angels." Following the same train of thought of bitter caramel/burned sugar, I feel like he's relating himself to Icarus after getting what he previously desired.
