3 April releases

Oh, I haven’t been around for a while but It goes without saying that April was a big month with many great little releases. Checking Itch.io and Steam is all you need to do to see that this is a fact. Unfortunately, I got recently drawn back to Crusader Kings 2 and spent dozens of hours in this convoluted grand strategy. I just can’t help myself. It means I’m not really keeping track of new games right now and the next 3 releases might miss something I would thoroughly enjoy way more easier than normally. I’ve already mentioned Bleakshore in a separate post, so scroll down for that if you want to. Another noteworthy releases are Little Buddy Battlegrounds, a lo-fi mix of animals from Pokemon and simple battle mechanics of Smash Brother. It certainly looks like good time. The last game I would like to mention here is Alder’s Blood, which is a very dark tactics game with nice atmosphere I would like to eventually get my hands on.

It’s not often that my most hyped release is a free game. This one is not an exception because I would pay it, but because it’s exactly the kind of experience I’m looking for in games. Through strong visual narrative it tries to make us understand more through feelings than a story. That’s something I value. Download it here.

2. Carcavas

I admit I originally intended this spot for a different game, which got delayed but Carcavas deserves it as a pure walking simulator from Colorfiction, who already created several weird and mostly calming world. I would say that low poly limitations of this particular project makes it their most appealing one yet. It’s basically walk the wasteland type of game with a magnificent dynamic sky. It looks like they have a Discord server now, so it might be worth joining it, if you enjoy this kind of experience as much as I do.

3. Auto Museum 64

Another free game, although it’s questionable to call this pure walking simulator a game. It’s a museum of models of cars from Nintendo 64 games and certain experience factor isn’t as important as display of progress. For the author it was both an exercise as he had to recreate the designs and a tribute to an era of 3D modelling. Definitely worth a download and few minutes of your time if you’re interested in both history of video games and digital art.
