𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬🎗

April marks as National Cancer Awareness Month in the United States of America. While in our country, the Philippines, it also serves as the month of awareness for Cancer in Children. I, as a daughter of a breast cancer warrior opt's to give awareness towards everyone to always be mindful of our health, security and safety. It is better to be safe rather than being sorry at the end. Cancer is a very scary and dangerous disease that anyone doesn't want to be messed around with. Since my mother was diagnosed of stage II-A Invasive Ductal Carcinoma both Er, Pr positive and Her2 (triple positive) an aggressive type of  breast cancer last September of the year 2020. I had witnessed how excruciating the pain that my mom had to endure, even before the time that she haven't been diagnosed neither to this very day that she is continuously receiving treatments. She had been through alot, countless doctor appointments, surgery, chemo, various medical procedures/examination and of course dozen of pills/medicine that she needed to take. It seemed hopeless and very draining at the beginning, thankfully we had a powerful source of strength, our family and certainly the Lord, God our saviour. I can still clearly remember what we only had at the very start of my mom's cancer journey. It was nothing but faith and prayers we were financially unstable due of the pandemic but we thrieved and managed to continue the battle. Her love for us and our love for her haven't stopped by this disease, instead of giving up we fought back! We did everything we can as a family to raise funds for the operation of my mom, then I researched and studied all the things that we needed to know towards cancer, for us to be aware of what to expect, what to prevent, and how to defeat it. Today, we are still coping and facing the hardships of knowing the fact that my mom is still far from being cancer free, her course of treatment is still tediously long but all we have to do is to keep going, keep the faith and trust the process. Time will come, all the sacrifices of my mom will be traded by a miracle of God's healing. I know it! And believed in it!

So if you know anyone battling with cancer let them know that they are loved, show them your support, send positive energy their way and simply include them in your prayers. This may seem a tiny bit of effort but it means so much to them. ❤️

May this set as a reminder for everyone to be health cautious, have a healthy lifestyle, avoid exposure to well-known cancer-causing substances, maintain a healthy weight, be physically active, get tested and always get regular medical care. Cancer may not be prevented totally as it is a very serious kind of disease but being mindful and well aware we can absolutely reduce the risk from getting it.

Types of Cancer

For example, a cancer that begins in the lungs and spreads to the liver is still called lung cancer. There are also several clinical terms used for certain general types of cancer: 

Carcinoma is a cancer that starts in the skin or the tissues that line other organs.

Sarcoma is a cancer of connective tissues such as bones, muscles, cartilage, and blood vessels.

Leukemia is a cancer of bone marrow, which creates blood cells.

Lymphoma and myeloma are cancers of the immune system.

Cancer Treatment 

Cancer treatment has different objectives, depending on the type of cancer and how advanced it is. These objectives include: 

Finding a cure: This is not possible for all cancers and situations.

Providing primary treatment: Killing the cancer cells in your body.

Providing adjuvant treatment: Killing cancer cells that remain after primary treatment to reduce your risk of the cancer coming back. 

Providing palliative treatment: Relieving health symptoms associated with cancer, such as trouble breathing and pain.
