Quercus HERO / ICON There are few things on this earth that convey the concept of strength and potency better than the mighty oak. Revered by the Druids, the oak was distinguished as one of three types of sacred trees. Ancient kings wore crowns made from oak leaves to symbolize greatness and divinity. oak leaf crowns were worn by Roman commanders during victory parades. Oak trees are even mentioned repeatedly in the Bible, often as symbols of solidity and strength. The Oak card represents heroism and power. Oak trees loom above us with their great branches outstretched upwards towards the Universe, sturdily balanced on trunks that root down into the earth. Large iconic trees like this represent our connection between the spiritual realms and the material realms.

#40: RIPENED FRUITS Sign: Virgo Gift: Harmony Shadow: Force

Gift: Harmony When attuned to your inner guidance system (gut, intuition, emotional compass), a sense of ease and flow ripens and bears fruit, and your efforts reap many rewards. Here, with access to the gift, you are in harmony with your environment. Tension melts away and you nurture a symbiotic exchange between you and another; that is, the energy you bring encourages an equal exchange with those around you. This is not merely about saying "yes" to everything and everyone, but holding healthy boundaries and giving fully to the situations, people, and projects that are in alignment with your Truth.

Shadow: Force Much of the gift and shadow of this facet of consciousness concern your relationship to your own internal energy and the greater energy of all that surrounds you. When you deny your own power, this shows up as victim mentality and a lack of boundaries (you versus "the other,” combativeness, struggle), or the repressive manifestations of the shadow. When reactive, you may try to exert power over others, an attempt to overcompensate and express your dominance. In either case, an energetic tension takes place between you and your environment - a forceful grasping at straws without fruitful outcomes.
