Dead Zone by Stephen King “But if we should ever catch you in a similar position, you want to hope your kidneys are wearing combat boots.” (There’s a little spill on to the second line of the page, but this whole line is to good to not use)
Lucy had never been more terrified in her entire life. Cardinal had never seemed the type to change like this. Yet here she was, faced with A cowering grey face and a very demonic looking Cardinal.
The DC shook herself out of the terrified mindset, if she didn’t do something this Grey face’s chances of continuing survival looked very slim. She ran over tapping the other woman on the arm. “Cardinal!”
“WHAT?!" She snapped to look at Lucy, her eyes glowing red with anger. She blinked, the redness subsiding to her usual eye color. "Oh, Lucy!" She smiled, all anger gone from her. "I didn’t expect to see you here!"
"Ahaha, neither did I…" She said under her breath. Then smlied, "So… er… wot seems ta be goin’ on?"
Cardinal looked back at the grey face, her eyes flaring red again. “I’ve tracked this one down, this grey face did Chico and I grave mental injuries, I just wanted to REPAY THE FAVOR!" Her tail twitched and she raised a glowing hand.
“‘Ey ‘EY ‘EY!” Lucy shouted, waving her arms wildly, trying to reclaim Cardinal’s attention. “ERr errrr.. I’ll deal with this one, uhm… Why don’t ya go… Talk with Issac? I’m sure ‘e’ll need someone with ‘im now that ‘e’s done with ‘is surgery.”
Cardinal snapped out of her anger again. “Oh… That’s a good point!” She turned to Lucy, smiling. “I’ll do that! Just make sure this grey face gets everything that’s coming to him.” Her looked turned very dark by the end of the sentence, scaring Lucy once again.
"A- Aye! O’ course! Now ‘urry along! Issac might be waitin’ for ya!" She hurried the other away, then turned to the grey face, putting an arm around it’s shoulder as she walked in the opposite direction.
"Now I would suggest if ya e’er come back ya ‘ave a bit more ta protect yaself with then ‘ust ya anonymity. I probably won’t be able ta save ya skin next time, OK?"
The grey face nodded vigorously, obviously aware it was just about to lose it’s anonymous life, then it ran off, never to be seen again for a long, long time.
