What do you love? What gives you joy? Whatever it is, commitment to it and love of it will innately require discipline and exclusive focus to achieve — it demands respect and focus. If you truly love something you wouldn’t want to be hungover when you’re doing it. If you truly love something you wouldn’t allow yourself to be to neurotic around it — you’d try to be lithe and calm. Ultimately, always approach a desire for balance with modesty and respect not a fake it ’til you make it attitude.

Lastly and perhaps most importantly is to try earnestly to adapt to the time. An easy way to know what to adapt to, is to seek out that which has beautiful form, and THEN check if it is beautiful in substance as well. So, constantly seek to adapt to what is currently/relevantly solid in both beauty and substance — this should be your 'lodestar.'

Large groups and generalities aren’t necessarily bad or wrong in and of themselves; many generalities are true and there are many good reasons for large groups of people to gather together. The problem is, since generalities categorically lack detail, it is easy to fabricate an appearance of allegiance with them (and thus simple to reflect back). This is what large corporate organizations do. They don the guise of a majority — they do this with precision and cynically timed calculation — imitating the group’s main interests, reflecting it back to them in ads and content, for the necessary amount of time.

Our journeys to our goals are incremental and thus need incremental courage (bravery on tap). - When your imagination fails it helps to have outside examples of  fortitude and determination (models of conduct). Therefore it is wise to read and take in great books (daily) as this is where people of the past generously and incrementally put their courage.
