atlantis had had, for the entirety of its long history, public markets for the people to sell and trade their wares, places of community where citizens could come together as equals in fair commerce. that is what kida was used to, what she had experienced all her life. the market in spirale, however, was... different was perhaps the best word to use. she could still feel the traces of the markets from her home, but the wares for sale had been vastly different from the ones being hawked here. strange pulsing objects, glittering glass contraptions, familiar weapons next to reflective screens that glowed and flickered with moving images. kida could not help but be fascinated as she padded from store to stall, fingering interesting trinkets here and there but ultimately taking nothing, as she had nothing of her own to trade for them. either way, the market itself was an experience, and kida took every chance she got to ask questions about the wares set out before her.
at the moment, however, she was knelt in front of a shop window, eyes fixated on a man on the other side of it as he painted a frosted glaze across some sort of pastry on the table before him with quick, precise strokes. her curiosity was brimming, but kida had no one to direct it at until another girl paused beside her to take in the sight as well. immediately she turned, head tilted and eyes sparkling.
❝ What are they? They look delicious! ❞
