“I’ll never do it again. Keep the cuffs on for the rest of my life, I don’t care!” She tried to stand, but the cuffs effects were already making her weak, and she had to be satisfied with leaning half against the wall. She was pretty sure she kept yelling, babbling whatever came to mind, tears still streaming, but she eventually had to collapse to the ground, exhausted without her magic flowing.
Carletta didn’t react as the normally quiet Davern yelled. She waited until it was done before turning to face her. “Doesn’t matter. I finally finished.”
“Finished what?” Davern spat.
“The bounding spell, of course, dear.” She bent down and smiled serenely at Davern. “You’ll never have to make a decision again.” She swirled the blue bottle she was holding. “One dose of this will get us started. Another dose tonight will last three times as long and let us ride home.” She leaned in and kissed Davern’s cheek, who recoiled. “A few more things there, and then your magic will be mine.” Forcing Davern’s mouth open, Carletta poured the potion into her mouth.
