DRABBLE/BLURB ME!
Leave a “Value Me” in my ask, and I’ll write a drabble about my character telling yours how they feel about them.
summer was drawing to an end signaling a lot of new changes on the up-rise for the small theater gang - not that a lot of changes hadn’t already occurred between them all already. throughout the second-half of the year, a wide portion of the group came to terms with their sexuality, and many relationships formed in the midst of all the chaos. along with romantic relationships, came the up-rise of platonic relationships, as everyone in the group could call the others their best friends.
the biggest change of all - that they all knew, no one was more upset than ricky about - was the change they all kept trying to push away. ej wouldn’t be attending school with them in the upcoming year. it wasn’t a secret, they all attended his high-school graduation after all, it was just a harsh reality they tried not to think about. they all promised to stay in touch, but it would be odd to not have ej around next year for theater, or to be forced to attend his water polo matches.
knowing ej wouldn’t be around for the next year, saddened carlos more than he would let on. through the unexpected, ej had become like a brother to them; and imagining loosing a brother was a heart-wrenching pain.
finding them-self perched against a bridge in their central park, with the newly--aged-adult by their side, carlos could only smile sadly down at the water than ran beneath them. the group had decided to all have a picnic at the park, not knowing when they’d be able to do another. carlos wasn’t entirely sure how he ended up alone with ej, but as half the group played uno, and the other half was chasing each-other around; he wasn’t surprised.
he greatly enjoyed the company of ej anyway, it was always a sense of safety, he didn’t feel with many people. just like - carlos knew if something would happen, on the off-chance ej would be there for them.
“you know - at the beginning of this all, i liked you.”
carlos laughed after he finished speaking, continuing to stare forward at the river instead of making eye contact with the other boy. he doesn’t think he could hold eye contact with him right now - or anytime soon. “nothing serious, like i feel with seb! just one of those .. notice me crushes?”
as they spoke, carlos felt their nose scrunch up in disgust, another laugh finding its way out of them as they stole a side-look at the other boy next to them. “i remember telling miss jenn that when you auditioned for troy - it all died quickly, and i started really disliking you for a bit. you and all your heterosexual drama kept interfering with my show!”
