“GRATEFUL HOUSE”
Servous Nystem
Carlos Rivas, aka Servous Nystem, says he was walking with his mother at age 6 when the loud roar of a glassblower led him to fall in love with the term artist. Every urban artist seems to arrive at different definitions for what they do but Rivas says his work is “out of control” and embraces the term street artist, saying it frees him up from the rules that govern graffiti. While working in an alley between Washington and Adams Streets in downtown Phoenix he was approached by someone purchasing this property at Roosevelt and 6th Street and given the opportunity to paint it. The property is now home to Grateful Ventures, an online media and publishing enterprise, and Rivas says the Grateful House result is his all-time favorite work. @servousnystem @grateful.ventures @rooseveltrowcdc @scenesfromthesidewalk
