Drabble Challenge 8: The floor is lava.
8: The floor is lava.Rating: GeneralWords: 392
The kids were running around their grandfathers’ home in Avenger Tower, getting into whatever they could. After Bucky and Steve finally rounded them up enough times, the youngsters decided on a new game. Hopping onto the couch, Carmen shouted, “The floor is lava! Everybody get off the floor!”
Bucks and Tone both followed her lead, climbing on top of the furniture. Steve lightly chuckled. “Well, I guess you guys won’t be stampeding everywhere anymore then.”
“Uncle Tony would tell us to get more creative,” said Bucks, jumping onto Steve himself.
Bucky had to grin at his husband. “Well, he is right, Steve.”
“What good will that do you if I just stand here, Bucks?” Steve asked the child.
“Then I’ll just...” He went up Steve’s body like a monkey and then leapt to Bucky, the man easily catching the boy with a laugh. “Deda will take me wherever.”
“Kid, I don’t have to take you anywhere if I don’t wanna,” Bucky told him.
“Aw...”
“Don’t you give me your mama’s pout, boy.”
Steve glanced at the twins. “Are you two going to try pulling off the same thing?”
“No, I don’t think I can make the jump,” Tone admitted, sounding so much like his father Cllint.
“I bet I could but I don’t want to,” said Carmen. “Bucks can be the delivery boy though, and me and Tone are, like, royals or something, and he brings us stuff.”
“Like sneaking some of Uncle Tony’s popsicles out of the freezer,” Bucks suggested, hanging from Bucky’s vibranium arm now.
“You don’t have to steal them, you know,” Steve told them.
“But he quizzes us if we ask for them.”
“He wants you kids to be smart.”
“Aunty Cosima quizzes us too,” complained Tone.
“She wants you to be smart too,” said Bucky. “School and an education is important to them.”
“But they don’t even have to go to school.”
“They’re also not little kids trying to get out of going to classes by pretending to be sick every other week.”
“We’re not little,” whined Carmen.
“Then go to class and learn and then show Tony and Cosima how much you learned, then you’ll probably get all the sweets you want.” Bucky dropped Bucks onto the couch with Carmen.
“Really?” the girl asked. “All the sweets we want?” She smiled at her brothers. “New goal!”
Drabble Challenge 117: She's six how can she scare you?
I hope I remembered the right name lol117: She’s six, how can she scare you?------
It had been a long week for Tony. Between trying to keep his governmental bosses happy, flying from location to location for appearances, as well as defending New York from yet another alien invasion, the man was really looking forward to a nice, relaxing break.
But then Cosima’s nieces and nephews showed up for the weekend. Renata did her best to help with watching the kids, but she had college homework to do, leaving Tony and Cosima with most of the work of keeping track of three six-year-olds.
Tony had been resting on the couch when JARVIS suddenly alerted him, “Sir, Carmen is in the lab.”
“Well, why did you let her in the lab?” the man sighed as he rolled off the couch.
“I didn’t think she could do any harm.”
He stepped onto the elevator, riding it up. What was the kid up to? Once he got to the lab and walked in, he couldn’t stop the chuckle. “DUM-E, she’s six, how can she scare you?” he asked the robot that kept moving its arm from side to side, trying to avoid even touching the little girl. A few more moments of watching the amusing spectacle, Tony went to collect her. “Let’s go find your aunty, shall we?”
