Deku and Tomura become their opposites

Tomura with his flowing white hair, light shining across his face as he smiles through the destruction he's creating.

Deku with his Overlay form, entire body coiled in Blackwhip tendrils, face covered in darkness, costume torn apart, fingers turned to sharp claws.

They've each become their opposites - their hidden, deeper selves. Tomura looks more bright as the goodness in Tenko begins to emerge, as Deku gets closer to freeing him. Meanwhile, Deku looks more monstrous to represent his fierce intensity during battle, with such tenacity and stubbornness that people think he's crazy. These are the forms he'll take when people are at risk.

When I saw the episode "History's Greatest Villain", I couldn't help but think, 'Tomura doesn't even feel evil anymore'. Since he forced AFO out of his head, he was acting the way he wanted. The way he fights and the way he rejects everything, even his own humanity... it just seemed to me like he was in pain, even tho we can't see Tenko with our own eyes like Deku can.

Tomura wouldn't be painted in light if there wasn't something still in him. Horikoshi wouldn't make his hair so long and flowy and beautiful if he's supposed to be the true embodiment of destruction!!!! My point is, although AFO planned his birth to be for that very reason, that's never what he was naturally born as, nor was it what he was supposed to be!!!

Like hear me out!!!!! He's not evil, he's been failed by society!!!! He'd given up on himself as well as the world, and the only way he knew how to deal with it was taught to him by AFO - to hate and destroy!!!! So that's why he does it!!!! He needs hope!!!! He's a victim who is refusing help even while his soul cries out for it!!!! He doesn't believe he can be saved cos AFO ingrained that belief into him from a very young age!!!!! That the only way to heal was to get rid of what hurt you!!!! But that's not true!!!!

Deku has to become this dark creature to destroy the evil, modified body that Tenko was trapped in. To show him that he'd do anything - even become something else entirely - to bring peace to someone who's suffering.
