Carol Danvers X Natasha Romanoff - CRAZY
Watching a horror movie and hiding behind pillows like a bunch of little girls might not have been what people pictured The Avengers doing on an evening off work, but it was a halloween tradition that they were unable to break. Even when it always went the same way; everyone either getting irritated by the cheesiness or too freaked out to continue.
It was about half way through the movie when a cheap jump scare caused a chorus of screams to fill the living room, Steve actually flipping the bowl of popcorn in his lap so the contents flew into the air dramatically.
“Yeah that’s me out.” announced Tony, standing from his spot on the sofa and stretching as he bid everyone good night.
“So dumb.” grumbled Clint, more annoyed than anything that something as silly as a horror movie had succeeded in making him jump.
One by one, team members filtered out of the room until only two people remained on the sofa. The dim light of the television made it difficult to see if Natasha was actually still paying attention, but as Carol shifted on the sofa and went to stand, it became obvious that Natasha wasn’t completely engrossed in the film when she grabbed the front of Carol’s shirt and held her firmly in place.
“Don’t you dare leave me here.” hissed Natasha, turning to shoot Carol a serious look and tightening her fingers in the fabric of her shirt.
Carol chuckled uneasily, not sure how far Natasha was willing to go to stop her from moving, “If you’re so scared, why are you still watching it?”
“I want to know how it ends.” explained Natasha, pushing Carol in the chest to ease her back into the sofa cushions, “And you’re going to watch it with me.”
“But this movie sucks.” grumbled Carol, allowing Natasha to push her back against the sofa nonetheless.
Ignoring Carol’s complaining, Natasha tugged on the blanket that was covering her lap so that she could drape it over the pair of them instead, shuffling over a little so that they were sat close enough that her arm brushed against the blonde’s.
Carol for her part was just trying to focus on the movie instead of the way that her heart rate had picked up at the sudden intimacy they were sharing. It was unnerving sometimes to be alone with Natasha, and Carol had struggled from day one to fully get a read on the other woman. Of course it didn’t help that Carol found Natasha so captivatingly attractive, something she was positive it would be best to keep to herself. It wasn’t that she thought Natasha didn’t like her. It was obvious that the two of them got along well and there was definitely a certain chemistry that Carol couldn’t quite put her finger on. But it seemed an unnecessary complication to push things into being more than good friends.
As the movie continued, Natasha found herself relaxing against the side of Carol’s body until eventually she was resting all of her weight on the blonde’s arm with her head leaning against her shoulder. When she felt Carol shuffling underneath her, Natasha sat up a little straighter to look at the other woman, “Sorry, are you uncomfortable? I can move.”
“No, honestly I’m fine.” Insisted Carol, giving her a reassuring smile, “Didn’t take you for a scaredy cat though.”
“I’m not scared ...” muttered Natasha, nestling back into Carol’s side regardless.
Letting out an amused breath, Carol raised an arm to run it along the back of the sofa behind Natasha, “Sure you’re not, you’re practically cowering.”
“Am not.” Natasha watched Carol’s movement carefully as she slipped her arm around her, looking back at the blonde with interest. It wasn’t exactly the first time the two of them had been in such close proximity; they had sparred enough in training sessions to be familiar with invading one another’s personal space. But it felt different this time, and Natasha could swear there was an almost mischevious sparkle in Carol’s eye. For as long as they’d known one another, Natasha got the impression that Carol was holding herself back at times, often biting her tongue when Natasha would make a flirty remark or dismissing a lingering touch. However as they sat together on the sofa, the way Carol was looking at her was making Natasha feel like there would be no holding back. There was a subtle curl to her lips and she didn’t struggle to keep eye contact as she rested her arm behind Natasha and leaned in closer to speak. “You’re awfully close for someone who’s not afraid.”
Natasha arched a brow, her own lips turning up into a smirk as she brought her hand up to rest on Carol’s arm on the back of the sofa. She traced her fingertips lightly over Carol’s forearm and cocked her head to the side as she kept her eyes trained on Carol’s, “I don’t need an excuse to get close to you, Danvers.”
That caused Carol to pause momentarily, her heart rate picking up further and her mind starting to race at Natasha’s words. They had played this game for a long time now. Carol would visit. They would spend more time together. The two women would joke and flirt. There was more to it than just a simple friendship and everyone had noticed it but no one said anything. Especially not Natasha or Carol. Yet here was Natasha, actively acknowledging that maybe, she did want something more than just a friendly shoulder to lean on.
It must have been longer than Carol realised for her to think of a response because Natasha’s eyebrow raised further in question, “Is that a problem?”
Carol managed to kick her brain in to gear but still visibly cringed at how hoarse her voice sounded, “I definitely don’t have a problem with that.”
Natasha’s eyes flitted to Carol’s mouth as the blonde swallowed and cleared her throat, her tongue darting out to wet her lips, and just watching the small action was enough for Natasha to subconsciously lean closer. The fact she had the other woman’s attention didn’t go over Carol’s head, waiting to speak until Natasha’s eyes met hers again, “You can move closer if you want. The movie’s getting kind of intense.”
Smirking at the comment, Natasha considered Carol’s question for a moment before deciding that if Carol wasn’t backing down this time, then neither was she. Never one to miss an opportunity to just go for it, Natasha took Carol’s invitation in her stride, leaning forward enough to close what little gap was left between the two of them and press their lips together.
There was a few seconds that felt like just testing the water, lips moving slowly together as Natasha brought one hand up to rest on the back of Carol’s head. Neither woman rushed to deepen the kiss or move things faster immediately. It wasn’t until Carol’s tongue swept briefly over Natasha’s lower lip and the red head scraped her fingernails against Carol’s scalp in response that things started to escalate. A combination of Carol’s arm wrapping around her waist and a eager move to get closer found Natasha crawling into Carol’s lap. The movie was forgotten as Natasha brought her other hand up to join the one gripping the back of Carol’s neck, pulling the blonde’s face forward as she opened her mouth to accommodate the tongue that was prodding at her lips. Natasha’s thighs squeezed instinctively around the other woman’s waist and Carol felt more than heard the groan from Natasha as their tongues brushed together. Until that moment Carol had found herself completely lost in what was happening, unable to focus on anything other than how good Natasha’s lips felt against her own. But the sound seemed to snap Carol back to reality, only now taking in what was actually happening.
Pulling back slightly, Carol broke the kiss and took a heavy breath, waiting for Natasha to open her eyes to speak, “Wait ... hang on ... this is crazy. What are we ... this is crazy, right?”
“I ...” Natasha was struggling to think of something to say, her heart pounding and her breath coming out uneven as she moved her hands from the back of Carol’s neck to rest on the top of her chest instead.
“I mean, we don’t ... we shouldn’t be doing this? Or should we? Do you think this is crazy?”
Natasha blinked, trying to process the rushed babbling from the other woman, “Do you actually want me to answer? Or are you monologuing here?”
“I’m sorry. I ... what do you think?” Asked Carol, feeling a little overwhelmed with the other woman still straddling her lap, and all too aware that she would only need to lean forward a fraction to reattach their lips.
Running her hands over Carol’s chest and up towards her shoulders, Natasha shrugged as if what they were discussing was no big deal, “Are you attracted to me?”
Carol’s mouth bobbed open and closed a few times, a faint blush making its way up the side of her neck at being put on the spot. There was no point denying it, both women knew they hadn’t exactly been subtle in their admiration of one another even if they had never acted on it, “Of course I am.”
“So shut up and keep kissing me.” ordered Natasha, her hands squeezing at Carol’s shoulders reassuringly as she ducked her head to bring their lips back together.
Carol was happy to oblige, the kiss picking up immediately from where they had left off as Natasha parted her lips to suck Carol’s tongue back into her mouth. Carol’s grip on her hips was bruising, fingers dipping under the hem of Natasha’s shirt and grazing her skin and the red head only found herself getting more turned on at the strong hands that were holding her in place. Natasha couldn’t remember ever enjoying just kissing someone so much, the way Carol’s mouth fit against her own almost too perfect. She was sure she could have continued all night, and if it wasn’t for the fact she was actually struggling to catch her breath, maybe they would have. There was also the ever present distraction that they were still in a very public place, neither woman particularly liking the idea of any of their team mates walking in on them making out on the sofa like a couple of teenagers.
It was that thought alone that finally made Natasha break the kiss, leaning back enough that she could suck in a deep breath for air, “We shouldn’t be doing this here.”
“I thought you wanted to know how the movie ends?” teased Carol, raising her eyebrows with a grin as she ran her hands over Natasha’s thighs, “Unless that was all just a ploy to get me alone?”
Natasha smirked, pressing a kiss to the side of Carol’s face and grazing her teeth lightly along her jaw, “We can keep watching if you want but I was having much more fun doing this.”
“So you are trying to get me alone?”
Natasha hummed with a small shrug, “Is it working?”
Reaching across to the remote beside them on the sofa, Carol pointed it over Natasha’s shoulder to switch off the film, “I don’t need to know how it ends.”
Natasha had to hold in a squeal of surprise as Carol held onto her waist and stood up from the sofa, not expecting the blonde to jump up so eagerly, nevermind picking her up as well.
Not that she was about to complain. This was definitely better than watching a horror movie.
