Carousel House Farm kicks off 2019 Farm Share Program
By Kim Cook Carousel House Farm Manager & Educator
Carousel House Farm, located at the Carousel House Recreation Center in West Fairmount Park, grows thousands of pounds of produce each season. Some of this harvest is sold through a farm share program.
What is a farm share?
Farm share programs are a relationship between the farmer and the consumer. The consumer pays a fee to the farmer upfront. In exchange, the farmer provides a weekly supply of fresh vegetables for the season.
Farm shares allow people to:
know where their food comes from.
support local, sustainable agriculture.
What does the Carousel House Farm do with the money it makes?
The Carousel House Farm Share program supports Parks & Rec’s FarmPhilly initiatives including:
food donations to local organizations.
youth garden programs across the city.
activities for the Carousel House Rec Center participants.
