West Fork Carson River by Dan Gildor

Walking around the West Fork of the Carson River, the clouds alternately opened and closed, helped with some HDR post processing.
It’s snowy along this river now. All the leaves on these aspens are long gone for another year. While the season has changed in Alpine County, it is still very much autumn in El Dorado County, we’re about a month behind for leaves turning here. I love this season of change, even though it always seems to be a bit rough in my work and relationship life every year. I try and think like the trees and let go of the old during this time of change. I find so much beauty in the trees and think there is so much to learn about them. Trust the process. The leaves will come back. New things will emerge. You must let go for these new things to come.
My track along the Carson River at Fort Churchill.
Someday I might punch out while in the desert but I won't be hard to find.
Nevada isn't all Las Vegas and desert.
Hope Valley by Dan Gildor

We rose early the next morning getting to the Hope Valley Cafe just in time for the first cup of coffee to come out of the perculator. From there, the goal was to cross over Carson Pass and descend into the Sierra Foothill wine country.
As we rose in elevation up to Hope Valley, a thick fog enshrouded us, casting a starkness across the scenery.
