I've been reading the SBL novel and there is one really excellent point I feel the need to rant about. Spoilers under the cut.
Think about that for a moment. Basic life skills like balancing a check book, or properly filling out a job application, are necessary every independent adult and yet the only ones being taught these skills are the ones society deems "stupid". It's easier to condition people to be ashamed of themselves when they don't know how to do things rather than actually teach them.
It's all one big, laughably flawed, cycle.
