Sai feels better for having rested, his body feeling lighter and looser than it has in nearly two weeks. It means he’s smiling more and noticing more when he makes his rounds to check on everyone.
It’s why Carter’s still-packed bags catch his eye when they wouldn’t have days before.
He knocks on the nearest solid surface -- a refrigerator, he notes with amusement -- and leans against it, smiling gently at her.
“ Hey, you, “ he says warmly, teasingly. “ You don’t plan on bailing on me, do you? You wouldn’t do that to me, right? Not without saying goodbye. “
