Tonight, the Grotto found a little traveller caught between two kinds of light.
In her hands, she clutches a bottle of wine with the devotion of someone who has made a shield out of bad habits and sharp laughter. Her eyes are hazy, her balance uncertain, her courage perhaps borrowed from the bottom of the glass. And yet, there, resting on the tip of her nose, is a magnificent luminous butterfly.
Not a warning. Not a trick. A promise.
Around her, smaller butterflies glow softly in the dimness, tiny living embers of possibility, circling like fragments of a future she cannot yet believe in. She may look drunk, messy, and lost in this moment, but the Grotto knows better than to trust only what stands in front of the candle.
Some curses do not break with swords. Some are undone slowly, painfully, stubbornly, by remembering the shape of your own soul.
And so the Keeper sketches her here: not as a goblin, not as a ruin, not as a joke with a bottle in her hands, but as someone standing at the edge of becoming herself again.
The wine belongs to the present. The butterflies belong to what is coming.
And the brightest one has already found her.
