I recently started watching Mystery Incorporated after seeing the altered character styles and the fact that Fred has a tiny face. Like, incredibly tiny. He makes the Crimson Chin look proportioned. As a fan of classic Scooby Doo, I can't say this show stays true to the original idea and though I don't mind some of the alterations done to make this series more modern, I am actually starting to hate certain characters.... which I should not!
I've only watched about 5 episodes, so I really hope this romance drama dies down, but oh my god, Freddy is a douchebag! At first I thought he was stupid and dense, but then it's revealed that he's trying to be a "guy" an unfeeling, selfish prick that identifies to be the trend of modern young men. This is very upsetting. When he said "ick" for having human feelings towards someone, I wanted to slap that bastard. This is not what a man should be, EVER. Also, shame on Daphne too for letting Fred back into her heart at the end of the episode. I don't think main characters should be this shallow and be rewarded or have their behaviors passed off as a socially normal concept. Things like this tell viewers that this crap is normal when it should not be. Fred ought act like a man and not a boy trying to fit in; clearly he has his own interests that set him apart from the norm. The characters should represent ideal personalities, but don't need to be perfect. There is a better way to handle the same issues but without coming across as a douche. Fred should not be allowed to have Daphne after that until he takes a good chunk of time to mature. He was way more innocent back when I thought he was just oblivious.
Velma is really weird as well. I can see these guys dating each other, but the approach is aggressive, dramatic and really out of character. I'm not too fond of her pushy ways either. Both Fred and Velma seem to stereotype males and females in relationships, which throws Scooby and Shaggy in a weird, "bros before hoes" situation. Daphne has always been Daphne. Even though she is more vocal about her feelings, she still feels more in character than everyone else.
And why is the town so hurting for money that they promote criminal behavior to earn more tourism??? It's like the parents of all the children in the old Goosebumps series, they should all be seen by social workers.
This show is weird. What is this drama...?
