Mobile apps - life made easy?
It seems like now-a-days my life revolves around subscriptions (which are basically direct debits leaving my account every month) and mobile apps. I have more than 100 apps on my phone that I use frequently - it’s difficult to remember life without apps.
How did I book train tickets?
How did I keep up to date with my friends exploits?
Did I actually spend my lunch time queueing in the bank?
It’s true - mobile apps do make life easier, especially as a business owner. I have three small businesses, and I use apps to help manage the finances, the productivity of the team, corresponding with clients and most importantly - increasing the awareness around the business.
Here are a list of my top 5 must-have mobile apps for business:
1. Basecamp - Productivity
This app most definitely improved Carve’s productivity, the fact that you can update projects from your phone for the entire team and client to see is fantastic. It saves me having to have meetings with the team on different projects and allows me to update the projects in my own time - but mostly it gives me piece of mind as to what’s being done.
I probably spend more time on Facebook than any other app, we use it to communicate with clients, friends, family, groups, projects and as general conversation between each other. When it comes to promoting client products and services, we find that using Facebook over any other social media outlet gives us the most insight into finding that key demographic to advertise to.
Probably the fastest, most responsive app for notifications. Although Google+ is forced upon you for some features and it’s an absolute dream to be able to switch between email accounts with ease. If you use Google Drive, you probably get more out of using it.
4. Phonto - Photo editing
This quick and easy to use app, allows you to edit photos, add text and upload to pretty much any other app - or save to your camera roll. The ease of this app makes it fun to use. I use this to add text to funny photos of my friends or to actually create quick social media posts. The small functions like adding a photo on top of a photo and having more fonts than you’ll ever need makes it my favourite.
5. BT WiFi - Connectivity
Working in the heart of Central London you would think that the internet is the best in the Country, if not in Europe. Sadly not, our office broadband is embarrassingly slow i’ll probably upload this blog today and you’ll receive it next week - but when we’re out and about on location, sometimes it’s impossible to use the client’s or venues internet. Being able to use your business WiFi in a lot of places comes in handy. Most apps lose a large part of their functionality if you’re not online - get connected!
