Hickory season at Willisbrook Preserve
I don’t have nearly enough decent photos of it but there is a MASSIVE open-grown shagbark hickory at Gifford State Forest and it deserves your attention. There are also large open-grown shagbarks in two of my research sites and they seem to have been a popular choice to leave as pasture trees in communities without a lot of oaks.
