Hi hello I feel like something reached into my brain stem and grabbed it when I started cascade failure. I’m five chapters in and Jal is possibly my favourite Guy ever. 10/10. 100000/5 stars. You have such a great narrative voice when you release more books I will give you my money so I can read them.
On a slightly less feral note, were there any particular pieces of media that inspired this series???? (So I can consume those as well when the crash out from finishing gravity lost inevitably hits)
we love feral!! feral makes us smile!!! i know there are a lot of firefly comps on the online book summaries, and that was definitely part of it. but i was also really into that show killjoys at the time--it has the same whambam wild crew energy, and also has like five seasons so there's plenty of it to gnaw on if you like it! also the soundtrack legitimately added five years to my life, so definitely recommend!
hi hi! feel like i'm late to the party because i only picked up cascade failure a few days ago, but i tore through it QUICK and can't wait to pick up the sequel soon. these are easily my favorite characters in such a long time, but jal especially has wormed his way into my heart!! (and the rest of the crew is close behind). did you have a favorite character to write for? and were there any mutations or augments you thought up that didn't make it through the final edit? (and of course, thank you for a new favorite book!)
and i am even LATER to the party answering this ask!! i loved writing the whole crew, but jal is my favorite character by a maybe-slightly-shameful amount (my southern self is eternally delighted i got to do a Space Southerner™). as for mutations and augments, they all came out just about where they started in brainstorming, except that nobody had to be subjected to my rabbit hole spelunking exercises into extreme human physiology--and the world is probably better for that. 😂
