Jalsen Red you’d have feelings about Haircut by Noah Kahan
I read the Ambit’s Run duology earlier this year. I loved a lot about the series, but it still strikes me how clearly LM Sagas demonstrated her thesis.
Basically the moral dilemma of the book is ‘one death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic.’
Like in the first book they are literally fighting against a force that can wipe out an entire planet in minutes. Yet the journey is written as meandering. The characters dance and joke around and emotionally bond. It takes weeks to get to the action. Literally one character seems to grasp the time crunch they are on. As a reader, the stakes did not feel particularly high for a good 70% of the book
Then in the second book, the sister of one of the main characters is at risk of death. The pace of that book is unbelievable. I think I had no choice, but to read it in one sitting. They DID NOT rest until she was safe.
Like it’s just so succinct. Like she stated the thesis and immediately proved it
Words truly cannot express how obsessed I am with this series, please PLEASE do yourself a favour and read them asap!!
continuing to feel totally fine and normal about Saint and Jal, I also ripped apart Gravity Lost during October, which successfully killed my ability to read other books since.
look, I feel totally fine, and normal, and regular about this book and its characters.
totally. fine.
halfway through gravity lost and i miss anke 😭
next in line for my library's ebook of gravity lost but that means ive got three weeks to wait unless the other person returns it early..... god give me the patience to accept the things i cannot change etc etc
theres a bit at the end of cascade failure where saint has an ice pack balanced on his bad shoulder and its a really precarious setup and it falls off at some point and truly nothing has ever been more deeply relatable to me, guy with a busted shoulder, its such a tricky joint to try and ice OR heat, evil bastard joint
