there was nothing familiar at all in regards to the majesty of the mistwood, even with all its hauntingly dense + complex appearing layout. nature was unruly, a fickle thing which twisted + turned where she pleased, uncaring for where and when man might dare step foot within. jakurai had heard it was a quiet locale, offbeat from the pulse of the inner city-like areas of the island, but something of a monstrous den, as well as a picturesque place. alas, t’was not merely a pretty picture that saw the doctor venture into its depths, but rather the legends of medicinal herbs + plant life which bloomed within
he was no fool. there were smatterings of previous paths, hollowed out from walkers of the past, which became his guide through the slightly less dense part of the woodland. he needn’t stray too far, thus the distant sounds of the city remained somewhat on the breeze, reassuring him that he would easily find an exit later on. but the woodland was as wild as he had been told, with hanging vines looped like nooses + roots curled in the manner of reaching, grabbing fists. nature begged for fresh blood and she had certainly laid her traps.
as a newcomer to the island, there was much he did not know about the bestiary of the land. he did not know much of the denizens, or of the monsters that might appear within the trees. he was guarded of course, but still somewhat ignorant nevertheless. thus, when a loud crack and the sound of a distant shout caught his ear, he immediately turned and hot-footed it to the source of the sound, sprinting headlong into danger at the mere suggestion of a sound similar to that of a human in trouble.Â
upon arriving at the scene, he was met with a lone archer whose leg had been seized by one of those selfsame roots he had nearly tumbled over earlier. his bow still clenched in his fist, jakurai was initially somewhat wary, but still approached nevertheless. “ here, “ he said, stooping to help the stranger untangle the mass of thick green vines and roots which seemed to have began tightening around the man’s ankle. “ allow me to help. “ ♬ ¦ starter for @aurulent
