A post to both exalt the best damn cheese in the world and clarification of my previous point. This is #CaseificioPennar, if you have visited me here in Italy I have insisted to you that we go there, if you haven't visited us yet my insistence awaits you. They have mind blowing cheese milk and butter... The milk is like none I've ever tried, with regards to quality and pricing. It is €1.20 per liter, which translates to $5.10/ gallon. It is made organic and only from milk of cows local to #Asiago. This #milk is well below cost of comparable milk anywhere else, and only available to purchase here at the #dairy ( #Caseificio). This specific business also produces #asiagostravecchio , an #AsiagoCheese that is aged 9 years and is valued as the most expensive cow cheese in the world. To clarify the previous point in my banana post, when I say "there is no ethical consumption under capitalism" it is not to say money is inherently evil, money is only a means of commerce. However, money as the primary organizing principle puts profits over people, and profits over quality of craft and work. This is devoid of humanity and art, and therefore inherently evil in my opinion. Do what you do to do it well, not to squeeze as much blood from the stone as possible, and ideally rewards will follow, maybe as praise and not top dollar. If you honesty value your work/craft/art with a human integrity, so will others. If your sole focus is profit, your patrons sole focus will be to relinquish as little money as possible. It is impossible to have ambitious ideals of benevolence and not be a hypocrite, it just means you want a better future than what is currently possible.
