It's 2019. My graphic design journey has started.

This was my first task on graphic design lesson in 2019. I made up a festival and named it "Fun Fest". I have made a logo, business card, flyer and map. After couple of years I see things that now I would do different and better.

The Hunger Games franchise (2012 - 2015): How Costume Incites A Revolution

Re-watching The Hunger Games recently, I was once again reminded how costume functions as a political theme throughout this excellent film series, noted on it’s release for its futuristic production design. The role of the costume designer, Cinna, is arguably to character who changes the course of every film - from dressing Peeta and Katniss in technologically innovative costumes in the first and second films, to the iconic transformation of Katniss’s wedding dress into the Mockingjay symbol (both seen above).

The use of costume in The Hunger Games connects to the work’s larger themes of social manipulation - notice in the gifs above, how each item is specifically being worn to be looked at by crowds of Capitol citizens, and the wider Panem on television. In a society that controls everything its residents can see in order to control everything they feel, Cinna as a designer takes back control of the image of the District 12 tribute to literally reflect Katniss’s desire to volunteer instead of being picked: returning her image to her and consequently, her agency. 

I loved that the designers for The Hunger Games clearly paid attention to the political statements made through costume in the novels, and translated that appropriately to the visual medium.
