A simple strategy guide for creating webinars. Enjoy!
Hey again,
I wanted to send a quick educational email and tell you about about something that has dramatically changed my business...
(Quick Disclaimer: This email may be slightly longer than my average email but there's some really killer strategies in it that anyone can implement and I recommend an awesome tool that I love at the end)
For the longest time I was afraid to do webinars. I was nervous to be live, I didn't know what I could teach, I didn't know how to get people to actually show up, and I thought the whole process felt daunting.
It wasn't until I actually partnered with Bradley on Learn To Blog that I was finally convinced that webinars were worth my time and man, once I added them in on a regular basis, revenue skyrocketed.
Once I started doing webinars, my mailing list grew at hyper-speed, sales of our products became effortless, I was able to promote affiliate products with ease, and we even figured out ways to automate our webinars so that we could run them at all times of the day or night...
Here's how to "Crush It" with webinars (to use Gary V's term):
1. Don't worry about being live. This is one of the biggest hangups for most people. It really shouldn't be. Once you are live, pretend that no body is on and that you're just doing a simple screen capture video. In the beginning, create presentations where everything you want to say is on the slides so you can read word for word if you get nervous. You'll feel like a pro midway through your first webinar, I promise.
Bonus Tip: Pre-record your webinar so you're not actually presenting live and just press play on your video when it's time to go live...
2. The second hangup a lot of people have is that they may not have a product to promote... This really should be a non-issue as well and here's why:
Webinars are an amazing list builder. Create a webinar that teaches something interesting and don't worry about pitching anything... You'll build a massive list that you can promote things to in the future... Once you've finished the recording, you'll have training that you just made that you can sell as a product in the future! Repurpose!
You can promote affiliate products. The first webinar that I ever did taught about my favorite WordPress plugins. I didn't pitch my own product in the webinar. Instead, I talked about the benefits of some premium plugins that I used... I mentioned my affiliate link to those plugins and made some easy sales.
You can host someone else for your first few webinars. Find someone who already has a product and has already sold it via webinars. Ask them to do a webinar with you and intro them to get your feet wet. You've probably seen me and Bradley or me and Josh do a few webinars where we introduce someone else and let them do most of the talking...
3. The final hangup is traffic... Once again, this is quickly made a non-issue once you get the hang of things like Facebook ad traffic. Really, traffic is the biggest non-issue that most marketers think they have. Ad traffic is simple, you can get affiliates, you can share on social media, there's really a ton of ways to drive traffic, even if you don't have a list yet.
Yea... Webinars are actually much simpler than most people make them and they've been the biggest "game changer" in my business... You just need to get over those initial hurdles.
