She was at a loss for words...when the men came to tell her what they knew and then from what Clara wrote..”thank you...” it was a quiet dismissal.
Perhaps this had always been the plan? Chase her away with assassins and then replace her with a new queen? That was a tad extreme? They had not spoken for so long and they had Shay together...did she not deserve more respect than that?
Why would he not search for her upon his return? Perhaps Caspian was not at fault but yet again a victim of his circumstance? Or worse a willing pawn? Fatima stayed in her tent alone refusing company and food. It was late in the evening when she called for Shay to be brought forth and she passed off a letter to her men to take to the King of Snow...
Dear King of Snow,
I am worthy of more than this...I remove you from your vows and give you leave to find happiness elsewhere and I shall do the same. Our daughter will grow up in my care and beliefs. Should you wish to arrange a visit you will have to come here I will not expose Shay to such a place where such things happen.
Caspian...I do not wear my heart on my sleeve for that was never my way...I was groomed as you to be a leader and to not show my fears, my heart aches. I relinquish title of Queen of Snow so that you do not need seek my death or divorce...I did my best for the people of Snow while alone...I carried on for both of us until escaping with our lives to the safety of my homelands thanks only to loyal friends.
I am in Sienna, my homeland where I now will lead my people in the many colored sands of the dry lands. They are happy for my return and to have Shay here. We are their holy people and loved.
Be well...prosper and be the King I always believed you to be....
Elisheva Fatima
