I write this with sadness.

Cospargo T. Chester Cat Cat, Duke of Bimhington, Defender of the Southern Litter Box, Scholar of the Mystic Arts, and Initiate in the Order of the Glowing Paw-- or, in short, Caspurr --has disappeared.

He survived with us the entire journey across the US and our first weeks here. He loved us. He was happy to hang around the family.

But Arizona is a harsh place for outside cats-- my family knows this-- and we don't live far from wild lands. Sadly, it only took one night after Caspurr had escaped unnoticed for him to disappear. (On a week when I wasn't around, sadly enough. I would have noticed.)

I've sacrificed his favorite purple chairs to the outdoors, hoping that he'll come back.

But it's been ten nights. We all know the sad truth, especially when three more cats from our neighborhood have also been reported missing since he has: coyotes are out and about at night.

He's not coming back.

Dangit, I loved that cat. We all did.
