Cassandra Vole Relationship headcanons
Enemies to Lovers
Cassandra always looked down her nose at you. How could someone like you even TRY to compete when she was in the equation?
Everyone should either fall to their knees before her or move and get out of the way.
However you, you and your blank expression were an oddity. You should hate her, hate her for being superior in every way or admire her and shower her in compliments like the other social parasites that grovel at her feet.
That’s mostly how your first two years together went. Every opportunity Cassandra had to prove herself superior she intact took, only to be met with a shrug of your shoulders, or a better luck next time. You could practically see the steam coming out of her ears when she got like this.
However your third year you were assigned dance partners. Initially Cassandra refused, but you bit her ego stating she’s always had two left feet and is just looking for any excuse she can to not participate. That’s when you felt something grip your wrist and whisk you away towards the open tile floor.
During your dance something snapped in Cassandra, your look of indifference towards her. She could now see a casual smile, the light twinkled in your eyes and she felt something fluttering in her chest when you surprised her with a dip to end your dance routine.
“You can let go of me now.” She stated coldly as she attempted to rear in these new emotions.
You lifted her back to her feet and took your time letting go of her hand and moving your hand away from her slender waist.
Every dance class Cassandra’s face cheeks would be coated in a red blush as you two worked together through the instruction. Finding a natural rhythm between one another.
Not just during dance lessons but you’d notice Cassandra staring at you, blankly as if she was unaware of her own actions.
Now whenever Cassandra was cold or mean to you it was as if she was attempting to make up for opportunities she missed to be mean.
One day in the Forbidden Forest everything changed. You were exploring the woods and attempting to track down a dangerous creature that was currently running amuck.
Having talked to Hagrid on how to properly track such a beast you felt confident in your prep work heading into the dense brush of the forest.
Your prep work would be in vain as you were thrashed about, seeing several lights in the distance before the large horn of the beast nearly pierced your flesh. You managed to dodge far enough to not get impaled however not far enough to avoid the blunt force of the beast’s rhino like horn slamming you up throwing you hard against the nearest tree. Your vision goes dark as you hear voices and several spells being flung, your body goes limp.
You awake sometime later in a light blue bed, the walls white and the sun just barely coming coming through the curtains. The early morning sunlight teasing its way into the room help your eyes adjust properly to recognize that you’re laying in the infirmary. Your eyes wander until they meet a ball of blonde resting against the foot of your bed.
It hurts to sit up, like the familiar sting of of feeling sore the day after a workout. Yet, you manage to pull yourself up and lean forward to recognize Cassandra.
Initially bewildered you shake her shoulder gently to rouse her from her sleep.
You’d hate to admit it but Cassandra looked rather cute as she nuzzled into the crook of her elbow.
You shook her shoulder lightly, she growned and slowly began to flutter her eyes open. She glanced around the room looking for the source of whatever interrupted her beauty sleep. Something you feel slightly guilty for spotting the deep purple forming at the corner of her eyes.
Cassandra’s emerald eyes go wide as she sees you wide awake. Before you could even ask what she was doing here, her palm found itself against your cheek. A loud clap filled the room in an instant.
“How…How DARE you!” Cassandra spoke anger laced in her voice.
“Don’t EVER do something that utterly reckless, exceedingly idiotic, something so so so!” Before she could think of any more to say your arms were wrapped around her shoulders, pulling her closer.
“Thank you for rescuing me Cassandra.” She silently sobbed into your shoulder, her hands reaching up to lay across your back.
Neither of you spoke about that morning after you were cleared to leave the infirmary.
Neither Cassandra nor you argued much publicly after that. Others were shocked when they spotted you and Cassandra passing one another in the great hall, expecting some harsh words to be thrown at one another, only to see the two of you exchanging smiles.
In dance class you two were now exclusive partners. When given the option to choose a dance partner you two were instantly at one another’s side. You proved to be one of the few people Cassandra found herself capable of trusting.
And you never abused her trust, knowing what a precious thing that is for her to give.
You had invited Cassandra for a more private dance practice during a free period you both shared. Things went as usual, music filled the room and no words were X changed between the two as you both executed your moves in sync and found your rhythm quickly. You felt as easy in Ms.Vole’s company.
As you reached the crescendo you glide your hand from Cassandra’s waist, where it usually would rest. Your arm wraps around the young woman pulling her closer. Cassandra’s emerald eyes go wide as she feels your hand move from where it SHOULD be. You shift your weight to balance the girl with your arm as she dips back. You slide your foot further back turning to face Cassandra. Your free hand coming to caress her cheek. Your eyes glance down at her lips, silently asking for permission.
Cassandra was uncharacteristically nervous as she gazed up at you, the light in the room illuminating a halo behind your head.
“Cassandra Vole,” you speak, her name coming from your lips snapped her back to attention.
“May I?” You ask.
“…Y-you may.” She said closing her eyes anxiously awaiting the feeling of your lips on her own. You shared gentle soft kiss.
As you bring Cassandra back up, you wrap both arms around her waist, as she rests her arms on your shoulders lazily locking her hands together. Your foreheads pressing against one another as you pull away to meet one another’s gaze.
“I couldn’t tell you how long I’ve wanted to do that.” You said a smile overtaking your features. Cassandra’s lips turned to a gentle smile to match your own. This time Cassandra is the one to lean forward meeting your lips in another kiss.
“This weekend you’re meeting me at noon. You are going to take me out on a date.” Cassandra informs you.
“It’s my pleasure Ms.Vole, what will the dress code be for our day out?” You inquire.
“Formal, but not pompous. You’re going with a Vole after all.” Cassandra spoke pressing a final peck against your cheek. Her hands taking their time guiding down your shoulders before departing from the otherwise empty dance floor.
There was no hiding your shameless grin as you practically skipped down the halls of Hogwarts, impatiently waiting till the weekend
This is part 1, I have plans for part two but has just been lacking in motivation recently. I have it all mapped out for the most part. Let me k on what you think, I’m head over heels for Cassandra and I wish I had more time to play the game itself.
This feels disjointed now that I’m rereading it. Might have been better to release it in several parts and each one focusing on stages/events in the relationship.
