Just like in the HL universe, Violet here also comes from an influential family, the only difference is that in this version her father is successful in politics, and now they really do have plenty of money. Violet’s mother is an arts patron. And just like in HL, she is far too obsessed with shaping her daughter according to her own imaginary standards. Because of that, from a very early age, V spends all her days in the rehearsal halls of a conservatory, walking the grueling path toward becoming a famous violinist. In a world where enchanted instruments don’t exist, she still has the motivation to keep playing.
V enrolls at Hogwarts University in the Department of Academic Music in order to bind her life to the violin forever almost like a marriage, sealed by her university diploma.
But of course, no story about youth comes without a tiny rebellion. After responding to some shabby little flyer taped to the door of a women’s bathroom stall, she joins a local rock band. And if her mother ever found out that V wasn’t playing the violin but HOLY MOLY a guitar, and in smoky bars and cluttered garages, no less, she’d throw her out of the house on the spot.
So, in true dumb teen-comedy fashion, by day she plays the obedient daughter and diligent student, and by night she climbs out the window with a guitar case slung over her shoulder, looking for trouble to get her ass into.
