It’s not that she can’t have anything sweet. She has to be very aware of what she eats and not exaggerate. The doctor’s have her the pills or the injection to control the insulin levels?
Hmm, see the doctor apparently told her she wasn’t allowed to have *any* sugar at all?? And only very little pasta and stuff like that? But this was a doctor at the hospital (she literally had a blood test yesterday morning and they called her in the middle of the night (3:30 this morning!) to tell her they had made her a hospital appointment at 8:30 this morning and that she had diabetes!) and they said she needed to book an appointment to see her regular GP ASAP (she already had an appointment booked for Thursday but apparently she needs to go sooner?) so I guess once she’s seen her regular GP and possibly a dietitian too then she’ll know more?
But she’s been given pills to manage it, not the injection thankfully. They said if they hadn’t have caught it when they did she could’ve ended up really poorly.

My dad got diagnosed last year, he was only just over the threshold and he’s actually managed to reverse it so that he’s not diabetic anymore, which is pretty insane and I didn’t even know it was possible. He basically followed this blood sugar diet book that he bought, and a lot of it is just swapping your regular stuff for the ‘light’ version of things, and following the traffic light symbols of stuff. I know that’s not precisely what you asked but hope it helps
Ooh that’s so interesting, I had no idea it could be reversed either! That’s so good he managed to control it like that, I hope my mum can be as lucky but I’m not sure everyone is the same! But that’s good to know, thank you. As I said to Susy above, we’ve literally only just learnt this so we’re not even really on the path yet to properly understanding how to manage it or whatever, so that’s why I’m just wanting any advice I can get at this point, but I also appreciate that not everyone is the same and there’s different types and stuff :)
