“So...your ex was texting you the pics, but you didn’t have his number saved in your phone.”

“He thought he was anything that could be ex in the first place.” Dandelion rolled his eyes and chased the whipped cream around the bottom of his cup with his straw. “I just like to hook up a lot. Not looking for a boyfriend. Are you single?” Geralt thought about his complicated relationship status and winced inwardly. “I’m...available?”

“Available and single are two very different things, and I have strong opinions about each of those. Mainly no to available because I’ve learned that lesson. I’m not sneaking out windows or hiding in closets again.”

“Available meaning I’m technically married, but we date other people and hook up sometimes with each other?”

“...I have a lot of questions and I need a second.”

“Hm.”

“How are you technically married to someone you occasionally hook up with, for numbers 1 through...let’s say 24, while I figure out what the next one is. I think it’s gonna depend on your answer there.”

“Hm.”

“Okay, hm. You’ve got 23 more tries.”

They were somewhere between pleasantly warm and nearly drunk when Jaskier looked seriously at Geralt and said, "Do some witchering on me." Geralt snorted and drank his ale, shaking his head.

"Something small. I'm just curious. I've seen your magic all the time on other people."

"It's not a party trick, Bard." Jaskier hummed thoughtfully, in a note that Geralt had come to know meant "I'm not letting this go."

"Fine." Geralt tore a piece of bread off the chunk he was eating and held it up in front of Jaskier's eyes. "See this?" He cast the sigil for Axii in his other hand, gently touching Jaskier's mind. "You want this more than you've ever wanted anything. And you can't have it." He pulled the bread slightly away, studying Jaskier's face. Nothing changed. Geralt grunted again. "Didn't work."

"How do you know?" Jaskier asked dryly, eyes flicking to the crust of bread before his face smoothed out into its usual pleasant expression.

"Because you always look at me like that." Geralt tossed the bread aside, surprised at the swiftness with which Jaskier snatched it up. "...hm."

These are all going to be from The Amazing Devil because that’s literally all I’ve listened to since February 29th:

Battle Cries: I’ve been feeling a lot of time and age recently, so this song has been hitting me quite hard over and over. It’s just so… wistful but triumphant, nostalgic but furious, tender and proud. I tried to pull a few favorite lines out of it, but it was like, half the entire song, so…

Farewell Wanderlust: This is probably the song I’ve listened to second most, after Marbles (not including Battle Cries and the songs from Love Run because they have the unfair advantage of having been released earlier). This song is very… well, I’m not sure if this will entirely make sense, but the song is a lot of dark crimson torn curtains and grey smoke and wet bricks in dark alleys (Madeleine’s voice is a lot of dark brown and dark red to me), before shifting after her trailing “Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh…” over to golden chandeliers and bread-out-of-the-oven browns and just a little bit of slate blue-grey when Joey takes over.

Marbles: This is probably the single song I’ve listened to most off of The Horror and the Wild. It’s so intense to me I don’t really have words for it. I’m listening to it right now, trying to find the words, but all there are are emotions. I’m thinking of having a line from this song tattooed, actually—just working out the design I want. :)
