The thing about this whole Cass situation is, that, it doesn't matter what she was joking about. If she had said, I'm eating an apple, APRIL FOOLS, and that had offended people, you don't be rude to them and tell them that they are wrong for being offended. You hurt their feelings. And when you hurt someone's feelings, you better fucking apologize. The fact that she doesn't insinuates that she doesn't care about them, or the fact that she HURT THEM.
The way I see the Cassmutt thing, is that it wasn't the joke itself that she made. It was the fact that she was joking over such sensitive topic matter, and over something that people actually hurt over? Like I think Naelii in the comments described it best. Deviantart is a place where a huge array of people with a huge array of problems go to be safe. And when someone who claims to be understanding of these issues goes and makes a joke of these peoples problems, that is the issue here? (1)
Not to mention her poor attitude when people try to point out that this joke was perhaps not appropriate to make? Like majority of the people calling her out were being rather polite, and were kindly trying to point out that making a joke of someone else's pain will hurt some people, and she just responds so fucking rude and doesn't even listen to what they had to say, when they are trying to educate her? Like an understanding person should be willing to listen and learn. Cass is clearly not.(2)
