The night that changed their friendship. That was how Peter referred to the night where they had exchanged a kiss. Or maybe a few kisses. As well as the morning after when he admitted his feelings to her in a more physical than verbal manner. The days between then and now were lived on a high. Peter had been anticipating their date to come but he also used the time waiting efficiently. He wanted to understand his own feelings before mixing them with hers. It wouldn’t be fair to her for him to try to start something if he was still hung up on his own self-hatred and doubts. It wasn’t something that was easy to get over, but Peter was willing to give this a shot at the risk of losing her. That meant a lot.
Peter was wearing normal clothing. He was. A black shirt and some jeans. He had called Cass letting her know that the History department at the university called for a meeting that ran late so he would show up almost at the end of the day. When he arrived home, he changed quickly from his work clothes which usually consisted of a button-down and slacks. The day before, he had gone to one of the local costume stores and gotten a cowboy vest and hat to make her laugh, and that was how he appeared as he approached the stables where he knew the curly-haired brunette that took his breath away would be. “Hey.” He said as he stepped inside, meeting her eyes and doing a little shimmy. “Like a western film come to life, right?” He did his best American accent, which was pretty shit. There was a bouquet of carrots in one hand.
