Hmm, okay. I hadn't thought about it that way before. It also makes sense out of Iago insulting Cassio from florence, when he himself is from there as well. Question, what do you think of the theory that Iago had feelings for Othello? Also, I was thinking about your meta and the characters, and Rodrigo seems to line up (at least somewhat) with Stiles. His devotion to Lydia mimics Rodrigo's feelings regarding desdemona. Rodrigo also gives up a lot to help iago, likening him to Stiles.
that's a lot safer than the idea I had that he was Desdemona, seeing as Othello serves as an "everyman" play where the devil is on one shoulder and the angel on the right, where Desdemona served as Othello's angel, where Iago was his devil.
It is likely that there was a fascination, it's even possible that there was a sexual relationship between the two, because there wasn't even close to the stigma of it that we have now. It wasn't unthinkable for men to be together until they got married, Romeo and Mercutio have that kind of relationship certainly. It does make sense of the violent jealousy Iago has and that he uses Desdemona to do it, he destroys Desdemona as much as Othello and surely if he was just pissed over his lack of promotion.
It would make sense for Stiles to take one of the major roles and I'm thinking Emilia actually, with Peter in the role of Desdemona in that he offers good advice when he does actually offer advice and ends up dead. (probable) Emilia helps Iago against her better judgement, and we've seen Stiles question Scott a few times. Rodrigo would be more like Isaac who is caught up in it.
